Year 5 & 6 visit Tynwald
The Year 5 & 6 children visited the Tynwald building as part of the school outreach programme to help young people understand more about Isle of Man Government.
The children were given a history of Tynwald and then visited the House of Keys, the Legislative Council and the Tynwald Court.
The children took part in a mock debate in the House of Keys with the motion being “All schools on the Isle of Man should be plastic free” – this was defeated in the final vote. Lucy acted as Speaker of the House and kept all the participants in order.
Minister Crookall and Minister Lord-Brennan also met the children and the trip was led by Minister Watterson (the Speaker of the house).
